Reflection is a powerful tool. Reflection is not merely the act of looking back on what has happened this past year, but the act of looking back and learning from those experiences. It’s collecting all the hard times, and sitting with them. Collecting all the happy times, and being grateful for them.
What can be learned from all this? Without reflection, life just keeps going faster and faster, and for what purpose?
Do you wish you had accumulated more stuff last year, or do you wish you would have given more stuff away? Do you wish that you had worked longer hours to make more money, or do you wish you worked harder to follow your dreams?
As this year comes to an end, we can look forward to the new adventures and lessons that next year holds for us.
In the meantime as we await the new year, let’s be lighter on our feet.
Let’s clean out our closets, and donate things that no longer serve our purpose, but could be of use to someone else.
(Like that sweater you absolutely *had* to have last year and only wore once)
As opticians, we always encourage people to donate their old glasses to the Lions Club.
Many people aren’t as familiar with this organization as say, the Good Will, but the Lions Club is an organization started in Chicago in 1917 and is dedicated to helping those in need.
The Lions Club will take your old glasses, read the prescription, and distribute them to someone who can really use them. As long as they’re not broken or missing pieces, they’ll be accepted.
Want to help a kid see the board at school this year? Or help a senior read the fine print on a medicine bottle?
